REBECCA MADSEN

WHO SHE IS AND WHAT SHE STANDS FOR

My name is Rebecca Madsen and I am running for the House of Representatives for Congressional District 79 here in the South Carolina Midlands.

I am running for public office for so many reasons, but I have summed all these up into three categories: Freedom, God and Family.

Following, you will find information about me that will hopefully help you to get to know me a little, both who I am and what I stand for.

We live in the greatest nation this world has ever known and, I believe, in the greatest State in the union. Please join me in defending our freedoms!

FREEDOM

I am the proud product of generations of men and women who have dedicated or laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. My ancestors have fought in nearly every war with US involvement since the Revolutionary War where one of my ancestors fought in the Battle of Camden. I stand with these great men and women in defending the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign or domestic. I have watched for years as politicians who would qualify as domestic enemies have made promise after promise and have only enriched themselves and desecrated the Constitutional Rights of their constituents.

Our founding fathers, while imperfect, were inspired by God to pen the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States in order to form “a more perfect union” – one nation, under God, in order to provide life and liberty to all her citizens. These foundational documents are themselves under attack in our current political landscape where there are calls to abandon the time-tested wisdom of a constitutional republic in favor of failed communist policies. We cannot allow this to happen.  We must unite as brothers and sisters in the great cause of saving this nation and our Constitutionally guaranteed, God-given rights. Rights that have been forgotten, like privacy, security, law and order, limited government, abolishment of inflationary policies, government overreach and over taxation. More importantly, it is important to give the power back to the citizens of the United States.

The peoples’ voice has been silenced. The people who are supposed to represent the citizenry now represent their own interests. As a representative it shouldn’t matter the party you belong to, your job is to represent the people who elect you and vote the way they would want. These are issues that should be discussed in our community and then polled so the representative can vote how their district sees fit, whether the representative agrees with the people’s voice or not. This is what I intend to do.

The American dream is vanishing. We can do better and we can start right here and now in South Carolina!!

GOD

God is an important part of my life. He has seen me through trials and opposition that I could not have gotten through without Him. When it’s your child’s life on the line, you easily find yourself in prayer. I have been both supported and sustained by God in my life. I know that He is real and that His influence can be felt in our lives.

This country was founded as one nation under God. We might attend different churches but we are not as different as many think. We might pray in different ways but I believe we are all praying to the same God. The vast majority of people believe that we need to try each day to be better than we were the day before. None of us is perfect and I will be the first to admit that I am far from it, but I know that through God we are strengthened, our families are strengthened, our country is strengthened, because through Him all things are possible. There is a reason the Founding Fathers turned to God during the Revolutionary War and there is no denying that without Him, we wouldn’t have won the war and established this great country. He continues with us today and as long as we can turn our hearts to Him, He will continue to lead and guide us.

But unlike other candidates, I do not believe that I alone know better than all others. I believe that God reveals His will to everyone who will seek Him out. In accordance with this belief, I intend to establish a polling mechanism that will allow me to put all issues that are coming to a vote during my tenure into the public record and allow my constituents to tell me what they feel is best for my district. This will allow me to vote not only on my personal convictions but on the united will of the people I represent. I believe this is the best way to restore a fully representative government in our generation. I am honestly shocked that with our level of sophistication this has never been done before. If we can tally votes for American Idol we should be able to communicate efficiently and quickly with the citizenry to allow for a true representation of their will, restoring a form of governance by the people and for the people. I trust that God can reveal His will to each of us and that together we can make the necessary changes to see growth, resilience and prosperity return to our district.

FAMILY

I am a mother of six children. I worry about their future. Frankly, I worry about all our futures. The family is the cornerstone of our entire civilization. Without the family, how can we raise the next generation to be patriotic, God-fearing Americans?

But the family is under attack. Some politicians have even gone so far as to say that children belong to the State, not the parents. I vehemently disagree.

Children are a gift from God. They are to be cherished, loved and reared to become good hearted, contributing members of society. The family is where this happens.

I intend to defend the family and family values as we move forward into the future.

This includes an exceptional education. In our schools, education must prevail over indoctrination. Parents must have a say in what their children are exposed to in the classroom. We cannot afford to allow the sexualization of our children in state-sponsored schools. Nor can we allow our children to be brought up thinking that differences make them weak. Our differences are what make us strong, together. School choice is a necessity to allow all citizens equal access to a quality education.

Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Please join me in the fight for freedom, God and family.  It is time for a representative to serve and represent its people the way they should.
